Over three decades ago, many of us witnessed the birth of the ‘modern internet’ - a unique, fresh, nascent, idealistic technology, filled with wonderment that was used as pragmatic means of expression, communication and connectivity – and over three decades we have watched it transform into the internet we have today – one which pays lip service to end users claiming to ‘empower them,’ when in fact, uses people by intruding on their privacy, tracking their movements, scanning and analyzing all of their messages, emails, photos and devices, monetizing their data, forcing horrible user experiences and gimmicks on end users to keep them engaged, implementing underhanded and manipulative tactics to keep them addicted to their platforms – and now, using everyone's data to feed into Artificial Intelligence against their prior consent – all while claiming to be ‘free’ – when in fact, you pay with your privacy, anonymity and dignity while they profit off your ignorance.
